LIFE SCIENCES 2010 event officially announced

We popped a press release on the wire to alert local media about our LIFE SCIENCES 2010: The Global Collaboration Imperative event at Microsoft's Malvern, Pa., campus. Thought I'd post it here as well. If you're a member of the media and would like a complementary press pass, please contact our PR guy, Matt McLoughlin.

Regional Pharma Executives Convene to Discuss Collaboration Challenges Facing Life Sciences in 2010

Upcoming event at Microsoft’s Malvern campus nearly sells out within four weeks of availability. Extremely limited seating remains.

LANSDALE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Expiring patents. Expensive sales forces. Industry consolidation. And an insurance crisis that’s caused millions of Americans to stop seeing their doctors, stretch or stop taking their medications, and put off elective procedures.

It’s no secret that healthcare in the U.S. faces an uncertain future. Life sciences companies are challenged to grow revenues and market share with smaller workforces, thinning pipelines, and millions of Americans out of work. How does a global pharma organization accelerate discovery, improve learning, and boost sales while cutting headcount and costs?

The quest to answer this unprecedented question has motivated pharma executives to assemble in Malvern, Pa., next week, for a one-day, one-time industry confab: Life Sciences 2010: The Global Collaboration Imperative. Co-sponsored by Microsoft Corp. and Lansdale-based ProtonMedia Inc., the conference will provide a forum for Mid-Atlantic pharma executives to share ideas on how life sciences companies can thrive in an industry in crisis.

The event will open with a presentation by ThinkBalm industry analyst Erica Driver. Attention will then turn to a roundtable discussion featuring several prominent life sciences industry personalities, including:

* Thomas K. Kaney, MBA, MHA, MS; Change Management Lead, Mandala Partners International (formerly Sr. VP, Human Resources and Strategic Planning, GlaxoSmithKline)

* E. Melanie W. Kittrell, Ph.D.; Executive Director, Global Customer Strategy and Channels, Knowledge Management and Innovation, Merck and Co., Inc.

* Dr. Tony O'Driscoll, Professor of the Practice, Duke University Fuqua School of Business, and co-author of the new book, “Learning in 3D.”

A brief presentation by Dr. O’Driscoll and an open audience Q&A will follow the roundtable discussion. Lunch and refreshments will be served. Attendees will also receive a signed copy of “Learning in 3D,” co-authored by Dr. O’Driscoll and Dr. Karl Kapp, Professor of Instructional Technology at Bloomsburg University.

“Pharma executives are struggling to align their companies to the new realities of the business,” says Ron Burns, CEO of ProtonMedia. “They want better ways to train their teams, promote collaboration, and improve efficiency. The panelists have pioneered techniques and technologies to bring the right people and the right information together at the right time—and that’s helping sales, R&D, and business line leaders achieve their objectives in today’s environment, despite having fewer resources.”
